About the Role

Higgins is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Waikato team in Hamilton, New Zealand, to oversee road construction projects region-wide. This position offers a chance to lead construction efforts through all phases, collaborating with skilled operational teams. The role demands ownership of project delivery, cultivating strong client partnerships, and fostering a culture centered on quality, safety, and continual enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee road construction projects from initial planning, scheduling, through to final handover stages.
  • Coordinate diverse construction activities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality results.
  • Track budgets, forecasts, programme milestones, and commercial performance throughout projects.
  • Develop and sustain robust relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead project teams by providing guidance, mentoring, and setting clear performance expectations.
  • Champion health, safety, quality, and environmental standards, treating every incident as preventable.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a tertiary degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Proven experience handling road construction or civil infrastructure projects through their complete lifecycle.
  • Capability to manage concurrent operations while ensuring delivery within timelines and budget constraints.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including expertise in pricing and administering projects exceeding $10 million.
  • Effective leadership skills for creating engaged, competent, and high-achieving teams.
  • Commitment to health and safety with a practical mindset that all incidents are avoidable.
