Job description
Role overview
We are hiring a proactive Project Engineer to support customer projects from initial site work through deployment and after go-live support. This position is focused on delivering robotics and automation solutions smoothly, safely, and on schedule.
You will partner with customers and internal teams to coordinate on-site activities, verify system readiness, track progress, and maintain strong working relationships with customer stakeholders. The role suits someone who enjoys hands-on delivery work, cross-functional collaboration, and solving real-world problems in a fast-moving startup setting.
What you will do
- Own the end-to-end delivery of robotics and automation projects across Southeast Asia, including successful installation, deployment, and customer sign-off.
- Create and maintain project plans covering timelines, milestones, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
- Coordinate installation, commissioning, and activation work at customer sites alongside engineering and deployment teams.
- Make sure all work stays aligned with the agreed scope, deadlines, quality expectations, and customer needs.
- Act as the main customer contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop trusted relationships with customer operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
- Keep communication flowing between customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Handle expectations, issues, escalations, and change requests in a timely and proactive way.
- Oversee system integration, testing, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Support technical decisions and help resolve issues involving AMRs, robotics software, navigation systems, PLCs, and automation infrastructure.
- Ensure deployments follow safety rules, operational needs, and applicable industry standards.
- Review deployment records, commissioning reports, checklists, and acceptance documents for completeness and quality.
- Spot risks, dependencies, and operational challenges early, then put mitigation plans in place.
- Track project performance and drive corrective actions when needed to keep delivery on target.
- Escalate serious safety, technical, or operational concerns and work with the right teams to close them out.
- Work closely with engineering, software, product, operations, and commercial teams to ensure successful execution.
- Coordinate knowledge transfer, software or version upgrades, and deployment readiness reviews.
- Support handover to customer support and operations during hypercare and post-deployment phases.
- Prepare and present regular status updates covering progress, risks, issues, and resolutions.
- Support customer deployments and engagements across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other regional markets when needed.
- Travel within the region and internationally for site work, stakeholder meetings, and critical deployment activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in robotics, automation, or industrial systems.
- Good understanding of robotic components such as actuators, sensors, and control systems.
- Hands-on experience with ROS and Python.
- Practical technical ability in mechanical assembly, soldering, and crimping.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environments.
- English is required; Mandarin is an added advantage.
- Open to extensive travel, with roughly 70% field work and 30% office work.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation.
- Comprehensive health coverage.
- Fast-paced startup environment with plenty of opportunities to build and improve.
- Chances to grow professionally and move into management roles.
- Supportive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
