Opportunity Overview
Join Stantec's expanding Environmental Services team in Ireland as a Project Ecologist, where your commitment to protecting natural ecosystems will contribute to resilient and sustainable communities. This position offers an exciting chance for an ecology professional to enhance technical skills and advance their career while working alongside experienced ecologists, planners, and engineers on diverse infrastructure and development initiatives across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Play a vital role in providing ecological services by conducting habitat, flora, and fauna surveys, preparing comprehensive ecological assessments and technical reports such as Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), Appropriate Assessment Screening, Natura Impact Statements (NIS), and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) chapters. Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams throughout planning, design, construction, and operational phases to ensure positive environmental outcomes.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be passionate about biodiversity and sustainability, capable of managing workloads independently while contributing effectively to collaborative teams. Candidates should possess a strong drive to grow their ecological consultancy skills and technical knowledge.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- At least three years of post-graduate experience in ecological consultancy or a related environmental discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of Irish ecological legislation, planning procedures, EU environmental directives, and relevant case law.
- Proven experience in conducting habitat, flora, and fauna field surveys and preparing ecological assessments.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
- Strong communication, report writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- A full, clean driving license.
