Role overview
The Clinical Trials Office in Mount Sinai’s Department of Medicine is seeking a Program Coordinator with hands-on experience in clinical trial coordination and REDCap database administration. Reporting to research leadership, this position supports the setup of multicenter studies, manages data collection workflows, and assists the team with special projects that improve operational performance and system integration.
Clinical research startup and coordination
- Oversee and monitor launch activities for multicenter research studies, including regulatory clearances, site activation, contract progress, and database readiness across the lead and participating sites.
- Act as the main communication link for tracking startup status across all sites.
- Create and maintain dashboards, tracking sheets, and progress reports for stakeholders.
- Follow contract and budget status to keep study milestones aligned with timelines.
- Review study protocols to identify survey or questionnaire needs and secure required permissions or licenses for validated tools.
- Track database construction milestones through development, testing, and deployment.
- Help monitor study execution at participating sites to support protocol adherence and timeline compliance.
- Join or coordinate monitoring visits, whether remote or onsite, when needed.
REDCap database management and data oversight
- Build, configure, and support REDCap databases for research projects, including forms, surveys, workflows, and user permissions.
- Train research personnel on REDCap use, covering data entry, quality control, and reporting functions.
- Check data for completeness and accuracy through quality control reviews.
- Handle participant information across recruitment, informed consent, and study tracking.
- Work with investigators and research staff to shape data collection methods and protocols.
- Offer troubleshooting and technical support for REDCap users and help resolve system-related issues.
- Stay current on REDCap features and recommended practices.
- Prepare summaries and reports for investigator and team meetings.
- Follow GCP, HIPAA, and institutional rules for data security and research conduct.
- Carry out additional assignments as needed, including data cleaning, preparation, and literature review tasks.
Qualifications and preferred profile
- A bachelor’s degree is required, though an equivalent mix of education and work experience may also be considered.
- No minimum experience is required; however, 1 year of project coordination experience is preferred.
- Background in clinical research or trial management is preferred.
- Ability to interpret research protocols and translate them into usable information is important.
- Strong problem-solving ability and comfort working through uncertain or changing situations are preferred.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and multitasking skills are needed.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Prior research coordination experience in healthcare or basic research is preferred.
- Experience using REDCap for research data collection and management is preferred.
- Understanding of research data management best practices, including security, quality control, and ethical standards, is preferred.

Compensation
The posted annual pay range for this role is $66,482.07 to $75,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education, and operational needs. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differentials, or other compensation and benefits.
