Job description

Role overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a driven and ambitious Programme Lead to oversee Prevention and Transformation work across medical services in North East London. This role focuses on improving healthcare delivery at a population-health level, with a strong emphasis on innovation and service redesign.

The central programme for this position is the FIND prevention initiative, which uses automated case-finding technology to identify local residents who may be at risk of long-term conditions such as chronic kidney disease, diabetes and liver disease. After identification, people will be risk-stratified and directed toward suitable interventions to reduce disease progression and the likelihood of needing long-term care. The project is considered highly significant, has attracted national interest, and is a key priority for both the Trust and the local ICB.

Key duties

You will lead programme management for disease prevention within the Medicine Division at The Royal London Hospital and across Barts Health and North East London more broadly. The role includes developing and securing approval for Outline Business Cases and Full Business Cases to support investment, including leading option appraisals that weigh cost, benefit and risk across different solutions.

You will also oversee multiple large and/or complex projects at the same time, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget and to the expected quality standards, while providing day-to-day leadership on behalf of Project Boards. A major part of the role is resolving significant project issues and communicating both routine and complex programme matters to a broad mix of internal and external stakeholders.

In addition, the post holder will look for opportunities to innovate, support service development, create value and improve health outcomes, with the aim of extending the impact of FIND beyond North East London. The role also involves evaluating complex transformation initiatives and modelling the benefits that contribute to health-economic gains.

Working arrangement

This position is based primarily at The Royal London Hospital and is offered as a three-year fixed-term contract. Although the post is advertised at 37.5 hours per week, flexible or part-time working can be considered if the applicant can show they can meet the role requirements and responsibilities.
