Job description

Role Overview

State Library of Queensland is looking for an AO5 Program Officer to join its Schools Engagement team and help connect schools with the stories, collections, and history held at Anzac Square Memorial Galleries and Parklands in Brisbane. This fixed-term position runs through to February 2031 and focuses on creating meaningful learning opportunities around Queensland’s wartime history and commemorative heritage.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will design and deliver curriculum-aligned learning programs, teaching resources, and engaging experiences for students and teachers. Delivery may take place onsite, online, or through digital formats, helping bring State Library collections and historical narratives to life for schools across Queensland.

You will work closely with the Anzac Square Memorial Galleries team to support excursions, workshops, virtual activities, and other learning experiences that explore themes of service, sacrifice, and remembrance.

What the Role Suits

The position is ideal for an educator, learning facilitator, or program officer who can build productive relationships, communicate clearly, manage multiple priorities, and deliver strong outcomes. Experience creating learning materials or running education programs, along with familiarity with the Australian Curriculum and history-based learner engagement, will be valued.

Additional Information

There are no compulsory qualification or experience requirements listed for this role, although teaching qualifications or a related background would be an advantage.

A Working With Children / Blue Card check is required because the role involves child-related duties. Teachers who currently hold registration may be eligible to apply for an exemption card.
