Job description
About the Role
This opportunity is with Mercor, a company that connects top-tier creative and technical professionals with AI research labs. The organization is based in San Francisco and is backed by investors such as Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.
Position Overview
The role is for a professional photographer/videographer working remotely on a contract basis.
What You’ll Do
- Produce 10 source images featuring people, objects, or environments.
- Create one final image and one final video that combine all of the provided inputs in a single frame.
- Make sure every deliverable meets the required quality standards and follows the shared guidelines.
- Handle work on your own with speed and reliability in busy, time-sensitive settings.
- Deliver clean, finished outputs without adding unnecessary complexity to the workflow.
Qualifications
Applicants should bring at least 2 years of professional photography experience, along with a strong portfolio that shows polished photo and video storytelling. A professional camera setup is required; phone-only equipment is not acceptable. Candidates should also be comfortable using common editing tools such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut.
Success in this role also depends on the ability to work independently, stay efficient, and perform well under deadlines. The preferred candidate is adaptable, creative, and comfortable experimenting with new visual ideas in changing environments.
Application Process
The application flow is expected to take about 20 to 30 minutes in total. It includes a 20-minute interview, a 5-minute form, and a paid work trial for selected candidates. The trial pays $120, and candidates who perform well may be brought onto the project and considered for more assignments.
Compensation
Each completed task is paid at $120. Since a task is estimated to take around 2 hours, this works out to roughly $60 per hour in effective terms. However, payment is based on task completion rather than hourly billing.
Resources and Support
Help and process details are available through the platform documentation, and support is available via the company’s support email.
Additional Notes
The team reviews applications every day, so candidates should complete the AI interview and all application steps to be considered.
