Job description
Position Summary
The Production Supervisor will lead the frontline production operations at Graymont's Otorohanga and Te Kuiti plants. The role focuses on managing production schedules, coordinating dispatch, overseeing inventory, and ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance while driving operational excellence and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and uphold Graymont's commitment to zero injuries by strictly adhering to all safety policies and procedures, actively observing and reinforcing safe behaviors.
- Engage in health, safety, and housekeeping meetings and ensure prompt incident reporting and follow-up on corrective measures within designated timeframes.
- Comply with environmental guidelines, minimizing risks and reporting any concerns related to environmental safety.
- Supervise daily activities of frontline staff by setting priorities, allocating resources, and monitoring task completion to meet production and safety goals.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members to enhance performance, safety compliance, and collaboration within the workforce.
- Create and manage production plans aligned with sales forecasts and inventory needs, ensuring production targets are met efficiently.
- Oversee dispatch operations, liaising with logistics providers to guarantee timely and accurate deliveries along with accurate product documentation management.
- Manage inventory of consumables such as PPE, bags, pallets, diesel, creating purchase requisitions and ensuring inventory sufficiency to avoid production disruptions.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities to boost safety, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain productive relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, representing the plant at relevant meetings and events.
- Ensure timely and accurate use of company IT systems for production data entry, reporting, and inventory management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned that align with the role's competencies and operational requirements.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of five years in industrial or manufacturing operations with frontline coordination experience.
- Competency with Microsoft Office and ERP platforms such as JDE for production data management.
- Strong organizational, planning, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Holder of a full Class 1 driver's license.
- Preferred: Previous supervisory or team leadership experience and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to drive operational improvements and lead teams towards enhanced performance.
