Role overview
Tesla’s manufacturing operations group is hiring an experienced and self-driven Production Planner to partner with manufacturing teams at Gigafactory Nevada. In this position, you will build and manage production schedules for Energy products, helping align output with demand across the value stream. You will also analyze capacity and support planning for future production changes on the assigned lines.
Key responsibilities
- Develop production schedules that balance factory capacity with demand for fabricated components in line with the master schedule.
- Conduct analysis that helps define the plan for production capacity growth or change.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and support functions to improve processes such as batch sizing, material transfer controls, and just-in-time or line-side Kanban delivery.
- Handle unexpected disruptions such as production gaps or material shortages by assessing impact, sharing information, proposing options, and adjusting shifts or product mix when needed.
- Create and distribute production metrics and forecasts that highlight supply risk for fabricated components against demand.
- Keep manufacturing, support, and business stakeholders updated on plans, revisions, and performance versus plan.
- Take part in the sales and operations planning process for Tesla Production.
Requirements
- A degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, or another quantitative discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience is also acceptable.
- Background in high-volume production planning within a manufacturing setting, with around 2+ years of experience building analytical models.
- Proven ability to identify improvement opportunities and influence others to adopt changes.
- Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to handle long-range projects, daily priorities, and urgent issues at the same time.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with limited supervision and a strong problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to recognize ways to improve operational processes and reporting visibility.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables; advanced Excel modeling is an advantage.
