Job description

Role overview

Tesla is scaling its work in sustainable energy and vehicle manufacturing, with a strong focus on building every vehicle to high safety and quality standards. This position is part of the Quality Engineering function and centers on General Assembly technology, especially electronics for low- and high-voltage systems, along with complex manufacturing environments and cross-functional collaboration.

The purpose of the role is to help improve product and process quality, reduce service needs through precise manufacturing, and support efficient volume production by solving technical issues and lowering lifecycle costs.

What you will do

  • Support structured problem-solving using methods such as A3, 8D, Six Sigma, and Shainin.
  • Help define and implement containment measures by carrying out detailed root-cause investigations using tools like 5-Why and Ishikawa.
  • Analyze production data, process parameters, and their connection to issues found in self-test routines or electronics investigations, then turn those findings into actions.
  • Contribute to KPI tracking for the Quality team and help drive initiatives toward agreed targets.
  • Take ownership of special tasks, programs, and projects in the General Assembly Quality Engineering Electronics lab team, working under the guidance of an Electronics Engineer.
  • Assist in developing electronic component testers and use them in day-to-day root-cause analysis.
  • Build a deeper understanding of Tesla’s technologies, operations, and production processes that may contribute to component failures or interruptions in self-test procedures.

What you need

  • Knowledge of electronics architecture for low- and high-voltage systems.
  • Practical familiarity with core quality tools such as Control Plan, FMEA, and 8D.
  • Ability to handle demanding technical challenges and work effectively in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience with problem-solving techniques and data analysis to identify root causes.
  • Confidence using Excel; familiarity with Ziplab is also useful.
  • Exposure to JIRA, Confluence, SQL, and Python is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for tasks that directly affect the team and area of ownership.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex issues in a clear, structured way.
  • Good understanding of KPIs relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret challenging data and define corrective actions.
