Production Head - Battery and Vehicle

Role Overview

The Production Head for Battery and Vehicle at Ather Energy, based in Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), carries the crucial responsibility of overseeing the complete manufacturing workflow of EV battery packs. Positioned as a senior leader reporting directly to the Plant Head, this role bridges strategic business objectives with effective shop-floor implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the battery production team ensuring strategic alignment with company goals and achieving production targets.
• Manage daily manufacturing operations, optimizing manpower, machinery, and materials to consistently meet TAKT times and delivery deadlines.
• Leverage data analytics including KPIs and OEE metrics to inform capacity planning and maximize resource efficiency.
• Hold P&L responsibility for the production unit, aiming to control operating expenses and minimize waste.
• Supervise essential battery pack manufacturing stages such as cell sorting, spot welding, BMS installation, and final testing, adhering strictly to established SOPs.
• Lead the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to advance production line automation and modernization.
• Maintain rigorous process control to ensure consistent battery quality and safety standards.
• Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs to boost machine availability through both autonomous and scheduled maintenance.
• Implement stringent quality checks and conduct root cause analysis for any production deviations or defects using tools like Fishbone diagrams and 5 Whys methodology.
• Apply Lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping to eliminate waste and optimize workflow efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

• B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Production Engineering is required; advanced degrees like M.Tech or MBA in Operations are advantageous.
• Minimum 14 years in manufacturing roles with over 5 years in leadership positions.
• Specific experience in EV battery assembly, Electronics Manufacturing Services, or automotive Tier-1 manufacturing is highly desirable.
