About the Role and Team
The Production department at Ather Energy is dedicated to guiding shift teams to meet vital performance indicators aligned with SQCDM pillars, ensuring smooth battery production processes. This position involves leading the Paintshop shift where you will coordinate a team of 3 members to fulfill daily operational targets, facilitate on-the-job training focused on enhancing cross-functional skills, and uphold a high-performance workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee associates and staff to consistently meet goals related to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale.
- Monitor and report on production metrics and operational challenges.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks within the production flow to ensure target outputs are realized.
- Provide expert management of liquid paint application processes including equipment and sequencing.
- Control critical process parameters such as film thickness, viscosity, voltage, and chemical mixes to avoid defects.
- Stay current with advancements in production technologies and implement suitable innovations.
- Maintain the overall health and functionality of production processes, plant infrastructure, and equipment.
- Utilize expertise in automotive paint rework involving defect identification, sanding, polishing, and blending to deliver flawless finishes.
- Conduct spot repairs, blending, and panel repainting to address paint imperfections.
- Skillfully prepare surfaces for rework including masking, degreasing, and sanding.
- Perform advanced polishing and finishing techniques to meet quality and gloss standards.
- Ensure precise color matching and consistent finish on all corrected areas.
- Maintain strict adherence to company quality systems ensuring product quality during shifts.
- Collaborate with New Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance to support product launches and prevent tooling or fixture issues.
- Prepare and maintain readiness for internal and external quality audits including ISO certification.
- Manage change control processes and cooperate with specialists to implement corrective actions.
- Enforce compliance with health and safety standards, addressing related concerns as per company policies.
- Develop team skills by identifying competencies and providing targeted coaching.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and sustain high morale among workforce.
- Work collaboratively with peer departments to ensure smooth operational workflows.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Production Engineering.
- Minimum of five years' experience in a paintshop environment, preferably within automotive or two-wheeler manufacturing.
- At least two years spent in a supervisory capacity overseeing production shifts.
Core Competencies Needed
- Advanced leadership skills to manage and align production teams effectively.
- Proficient communication and presentation skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Expertise in lean manufacturing and methods to enhance workstation efficiency.
- Strong command over quality improvement frameworks and problem-solving techniques such as A3 and PDCA.
