The company values inclusion, diversity, and meaningful contribution, and is growing Cylite’s product range and production capability as part of the wider Alcon group.
The Production Engineer, Manufacturing role is centered on using advanced manufacturing and quality engineering methods to monitor, analyse, and improve production line performance. The position works across Final Test, New Product Introduction (NPI), Systems Engineering, Research & Development, and Quality Engineering to strengthen yield, quality, throughput, process stability, instrument calibration, and test performance through evidence-based improvements.
What you will do
- Build a strong understanding of Alcon products, the technologies behind them, and how they are used.
- Support delivery of product-related goals set by Engineering, Production, Quality, Regulatory, and Marketing teams.
- Partner with teams across the business to move products from development into mass production and market release.
- Review emerging and existing engineering technologies and apply them to the testing of manufactured products.
- Use statistical methods to track, control, and improve manufacturing performance, including analysis of production data, SPC, and MSA/GR&R studies.
- Identify sources of variation and use data to support decisions that improve quality, yield, and overall process capability.
- Set up, maintain, and enhance process control systems so production remains stable, repeatable, and capable of meeting requirements.
- Carry out production capacity and throughput analysis to understand performance, spot bottlenecks, and support planning and risk management.
- Participate in daily production stand-up meetings and communicate priorities, status, risks, and next steps clearly.
- Escalate safety, quality, delivery, and capacity concerns promptly while coordinating with Engineering, Quality, NPI, Systems, R&D, and Production to resolve issues.
Requirements
- A degree in Engineering such as Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or a similar discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting manufacturing or production in an engineering capacity.
- Practical, hands-on exposure on the production floor, including support for builds, testing, or calibration.
- Strong troubleshooting ability in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of root-cause analysis and the ability to identify underlying problems rather than temporary fixes.
- Experience improving production efficiency, yield, or process stability.
- A genuine continuous improvement mindset and willingness to keep learning as products and processes change.
- High attention to detail, strong ownership, and a dependable approach to work.
- Good planning and prioritisation skills to meet deadlines.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
