Product Owner - Self Service Check-in

Role overview

Xebia is hiring a Product Owner focused on Self-Service Check-in. This role requires deep experience in self-service check-in solutions and a mandatory background in the airline domain. The position is based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates and is intended for a full-time onsite setup.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product ownership for an end-to-end delivery stream within a SAFe Agile environment, including PI Planning, sprint execution, and release oversight across Agile Release Trains.
• Work closely with the RTE, Scrum Masters, and System Architects so that team commitments stay aligned with program increment goals and airline priorities such as loyalty, reservations, operations, or revenue management platforms.
• Keep the product backlog refined, healthy, and ready for execution by writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria that can be tested and understood by delivery teams.
• Order backlog items using value-based methods such as WSJF, weighing business value, urgency, and risk reduction while keeping the backlog prepared 2 to 3 sprints in advance.
• Serve as the main point of contact for business stakeholders, vendors, and engineering teams, ensuring expectations are managed and progress is communicated clearly.
• Use delivery metrics to provide visibility on velocity, commitment versus delivery, cycle time, sprint burndown, defect leakage, and PI objective completion, supporting transparency and continuous improvement.
• Apply practical knowledge of modern data platforms and pipelines, including medallion or lakehouse architectures, ETL or ELT, Databricks, and cloud data warehousing, to manage data-focused backlogs effectively.
• Convert complex data engineering needs such as ingestion, transformation, BI or reporting, and data quality into prioritized work items and collaborate technically with engineers to clear blockers and confirm solution feasibility.

Requirements

• More than 10 years of experience is required.
• Strong, hands-on expertise in self-service check-in is essential.
• Airline domain experience is mandatory.
• Proven ability to operate as a Product Owner in a SAFe Agile setup.
• Working knowledge of modern data engineering concepts and tools is needed.
• Ability to manage stakeholders, vendors, and engineering teams effectively.
• Comfort with backlog prioritization, delivery tracking, and release governance.
