Job description
Role overview
Xebia is seeking an experienced Product Owner focused on data initiatives within the airline domain. The role requires deep familiarity with modern data engineering technologies and platforms, along with strong background in airline business processes. The expected experience level is 10 years.
What you will do
- Take full ownership of delivery as a Product Owner in a SAFe Agile setup, including PI planning, sprint execution, and release coordination across Agile Release Trains.
- Work closely with the RTE, Scrum Masters, and System Architects so that team commitments support program increment goals and airline priorities such as loyalty, reservations, operations, or revenue management.
- Keep the product backlog organized, refined, and ready, with user stories that are clear, testable, and supported by acceptance criteria.
- Order and sequence features using value-driven methods such as WSJF, while weighing business impact, urgency, and risk reduction.
- Ensure the backlog stays prepared at least 2–3 sprints ahead to maintain team predictability and steady flow of work.
- Serve as the main contact point for business stakeholders, vendors, and engineering teams, aligning expectations and communicating status clearly.
- Monitor and present delivery metrics such as velocity, committed vs. delivered predictability, cycle time, sprint burndown, defect leakage, and PI objective completion.
- Apply practical knowledge of data platforms and pipelines to manage data-focused backlogs with confidence.
- Convert data engineering needs such as ingestion, transformation, BI/reporting, and data quality into prioritized work items that can be delivered by the team.
- Collaborate technically with engineers to resolve blockers and confirm that proposed solutions are workable.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience.
- Strong exposure to data technologies such as Databricks, ETL, cloud data warehousing, and lakehouse architectures.
- Hands-on understanding of modern data platforms, including medallion or lakehouse-style setups.
- Prior experience working in the airline domain is mandatory.
- Experience operating as a Product Owner in a SAFe Agile environment.
- Ability to prioritize work using frameworks such as WSJF.
- Comfort working with stakeholders, vendors, and engineering teams.
- Ability to interpret delivery metrics and use them to improve transparency and execution.
