Job description
About the role
Whipcare is looking for a Product Marketing & Growth Lead to own one of the company’s most commercially important positions. Whipcare is a verified vehicle health marketplace in Nigeria that connects car owners and fleet operators in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Enugu with trusted mechanics through a bidding platform, escrow-based payments, a verified service history passport, and a B2B fleet dashboard. The product went live on July 1, and the growth system needs to be built in real time.
This is a founding-level role focused on driving measurable business growth, not simply running campaigns. The person in this role will be responsible for building the growth engine, improving conversions, and shaping how the product is positioned in the market.
What you will own
- Acquisition of B2C users, including app installs and first bookings across both paid and organic channels.
- B2B lead generation that produces qualified conversations with fleet operators and strengthens the pipeline.
- Activation improvements, especially increasing the share of app visitors who make a first booking.
- Retention work that encourages repeat usage and reduces churn.
- Lifecycle marketing across email, SMS, and WhatsApp to convert, keep, and win back users.
- Fast, disciplined growth experiments across channels, messaging, and tactics.
- Positioning and messaging that builds trust quickly with Lagos car owners and helps them book on first contact.
What the role is not
This position is not about managing marketing campaigns in isolation. The expectation is ownership of growth outcomes and the metrics behind them.
Who the company is looking for
The ideal candidate has previously led growth for a Nigerian consumer or B2B tech product and has hands-on experience with growth strategy rather than only campaign execution. You should be comfortable thinking in funnels, not just content or posts, and have built lifecycle sequences that improve conversion. Familiarity with the Nigerian digital market is important, including the trust gap, the role of WhatsApp in conversion, and the effectiveness of Pidgin copy in the right context. Decisions should be guided by data and experimentation rather than reporting on past activity.
Role setup
- Work mode: remote.
- Time zone alignment: Lagos time zone.
- Trial period: 30-day paid trial.
- Compensation structure: equity is included.
- Review cycle: compensation is reviewed every 3 months as the company grows.
How to apply
Applicants are asked to send an email with a CV and a cover letter. The subject line should be: Growth Lead Application — [Your Name].
The cover letter must answer all six questions below:
- What have you worked on recently that you are most proud of, what was your impact, and what part did you personally own?
- How did you determine that it was successful?
- What are you currently trying to improve?
- Which parts of this kind of role do you genuinely dislike?
- How would your previous employer rate you on a scale of 1–10, and why?
- Why do you want to build with Whipcare?
Applications that do not address all six questions will not be considered.
Additional notes
This is a founding member role, and the company is moving quickly with a high performance bar.
