Role Overview

The Buyer and Seller science team at eBay plays a critical role in shaping the future of ecommerce. As a member of the search ranking team, you will influence the strategic direction and enhance the ranking of search results, designing new search technologies to improve relevance and user satisfaction. This role demands collaboration with experts employing advanced data science techniques to ensure exceptional search experiences. Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the ranking strategy, owning the search ranking product roadmap.
  • Prioritize initiatives driven by data, balancing immediate results and long-term technology investments.
  • Effectively communicate strategic decisions and trade-offs with senior leadership and development teams.
  • Advocate for customers by identifying improvements that reflect market-specific needs and scientific algorithm advancements.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration to align efforts toward resolving customer challenges.
  • Manage and analyze A/B testing to identify launch candidates that enhance key performance metrics.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Over 5 years of product management experience, particularly with customer-centric platforms serving both buyers and sellers in a marketplace.
  • Proven ability to innovate and craft compelling customer experiences using insights from market research, user studies, and A/B testing.
  • A deep passion for search engine technologies and a customer-first mindset.
  • Strong quantitative abilities; adept at using data and metrics to inform decisions and actions.
  • Exceptional communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Technical competence is preferred, with a background in technical roles or possessing a Computer Science degree.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's or equivalent experience.
