About Industrial Electric Manufacturing (IEM)
With a history spanning more than 75 years, Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM) stands as North America's largest independent manufacturer of custom power distribution systems. Founded in Fremont, California, the company expanded alongside Silicon Valley and now encompasses over 1.7 million square feet of manufacturing space. IEM boasts over $1 billion in annual sales and has completed more than 10,000 projects across diverse sectors including technology, data centers, commercial, energy, utilities, healthcare, industrial, and infrastructure markets. The company is committed to delivering superior product quality, dependable service, and adaptable solutions to fulfill complex technical challenges at scale.
Role Overview
The Product Manager will oversee designated product lines throughout their entire lifecycle — from inception through development, launch, growth, and eventual phase-out. This role ensures that product plans reflect both the company's strategic goals and the market's demands. Collaborating closely with Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Marketing teams, the Product Manager champions products by building business cases, facilitating new product introductions, and supporting sustained success post-launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management of assigned product lines across all lifecycle phases, including planning, development, commercialization, expansion, and retirement.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of product roadmaps that align with overarching company strategies.
- Perform competitive market analysis and validate product requirements in cooperation with Strategy and Sales teams.
- Prepare product-related documentation such as business cases, technical specifications, guide specs, and sales enablement tools.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Sales to ensure smooth development and market launch of products.
- Support Steering Committee meetings, participate in R&D processes, and manage deliverables tied to New Product Introductions.
- Assist Sales and Marketing teams with product launches, including conducting training and helping define product positioning.
- Serve as the product representative by communicating updates on the roadmap and product performance to stakeholders.
- Monitor product metrics and analyze data for continuous product improvement and report preparation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related technical field; an MBA is advantageous.
- At least 4 years of professional experience in the power distribution equipment sector or a closely related industry, ideally with switchgear expertise.
- Technical understanding of low voltage power distribution products, their markets, and typical applications.
- Excellent communication abilities and collaborative skills, with a capacity to navigate uncertain environments.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working Conditions & Location
- Offers hybrid work options for onsite employees and possibilities for fully remote arrangements.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time as required.
- The position is open in multiple locations, including Vancouver (Canada), Tualatin (Oregon), Franklin (Tennessee), Fremont (California), Jacksonville (Florida), and remote.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position spans from $91,200 up to $135,200, determined by factors such as location, prior experience, and qualifications.
