About the Company

G-III Apparel Group is a global fashion business with capabilities spanning design, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, and marketing. The company supports growth across a portfolio of more than 30 owned and licensed brands and is known for its entrepreneurial culture and strong industry relationships.

Role Overview

This Product Development Assistant position supports the product development team in building, organizing, and monitoring seasonal samples and product information so collections move smoothly from concept to market. The role is based on-site in Midtown Manhattan’s Fashion District in New York City and reports to the Director of Design. The focus is Levi’s Ladies Outerwear.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help develop and approve new materials and trims from initial prototype stages through production.
  • Keep seasonal trim charts current with costing and detail revisions, and maintain hard files and reference materials.
  • Support the creation and upkeep of seasonal color palettes for internal, cross-functional, and overseas use.
  • Organize trims, supplies, and BOM reference swatches in a structured and accessible way.
  • Prepare and revise production BOMs for all styles while checking for accuracy during the full development cycle.
  • Share fit comments and sample status updates with vendors and monitor all related correspondence.
  • Request samples from factories and suppliers and track those orders through completion.
  • Maintain seasonal factory development charts and communicate updates to overseas partners as needed.
  • Track samples with sales and marketing teams to ensure they are routed and delivered on time.
  • Coordinate incoming packages and uphold sample organization standards across product categories.
  • Create and update technical sketches, diagrams, and development documents such as mini walls, specifications, and costing files.
  • Assist with presentation materials and internal communication tools to support important milestone deadlines.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience is required.
  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience in product development or a related apparel role is expected.
  • Applicants should understand apparel construction, BOMs, and standard development workflows.
  • Prior experience in a high-SKU environment is preferred.
  • Strong Excel capability is needed, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data handling.
  • Working knowledge of PLM platforms, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop is important.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with teams and vendors are required.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working quickly, adapting to changing priorities, and handling several deadlines at once.

Compensation

The hourly pay range is $26.45 to $26.85, which works out to an estimated annualized salary of about $55,000 to $60,000 for a 40-hour workweek. This range is provided in good faith for this specific role and is included under New York City salary transparency requirements.

Brand Portfolio

G-III Apparel Group’s owned brands include DKNY, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, Donna Karan, Vilebrequin, Sonia Rykiel, G.H. Bass, Bass Outdoor, Andrew Marc, Eliza J., and GIII Sports, among others. Its licensed fashion brands include Cole Haan, Dockers, Converse, Kenneth Cole, Levi’s, Vince Camuto, Margaritaville, and more. The company also operates retail stores for DKNY, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, and Donna Karan.
