Job description

Role Overview

Join Amazon Music's Core Experiences Design team as a Product Designer focused on crafting voice-first and multimodal user interactions that redefine how users engage with music via spoken language. This role merges visual design with conversational UX to produce natural, intuitive voice interactions compatible with Alexa-enabled devices. Your design work will span crafting TTS responses, anticipating customer dialogue, and ensuring harmony between spoken content and on-screen displays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design voice interaction flows and text-to-speech (TTS) responses that are clear, natural, and context-sensitive for Amazon Music users.
  • Develop conversational wireframes, dialogue scripts, response maps, and flow diagrams to express design intent effectively.
  • Iterate on both single-turn and multi-turn voice interactions, predicting user responses and improving prompt clarity.
  • Collaborate closely with product designers, managers, engineers, and researchers to integrate feedback, technical constraints, and user insights into the design process.
  • Create high-fidelity mockups for voice and screen combined experiences using existing templates and design systems.
  • Ensure voice responses are coherent and aligned with overall platform voice patterns through cross-team partnerships.
  • Present design concepts and iterations to partners and stakeholders for critique and refinement.
  • Contribute sample dialog interactions and data for language model training under senior designer guidance.

Typical Work Day

Your day includes reviewing TTS responses on devices like Echo Show to ensure pacing and hierarchy are optimal, sketching multi-turn flows for complex voice commands, aligning with product managers on edge cases, collaborating with engineers on technical feasibility, participating in design critiques, and documenting iterations and research questions in design tools such as Figma.
