Product Designer, Instagram Cross-Meta Growth

Role Overview

Instagram Home is looking for a highly experienced senior product designer to take the lead in the IG Cross-Meta Growth Area. This position focuses on crafting innovative and systematic design solutions that keep Instagram's experience straightforward and of high craftsmanship. The role supports the expansion of current and emerging apps including Instants, Threads, MetaAI, and pioneering 0 to 1 initiatives. The goal is to foster cross-application growth with cohesive designs spanning all primary Instagram features such as the feed, reels, stories, and profiles.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with leadership to shape strategy, guide decision-making, and communicate effectively with Instagram executives.
• Drive the advancement and scaling of design and user experience principles, patterns, and guidelines that extend across Meta's ecosystem.
• Innovate and partner across teams to develop comprehensive solutions that facilitate cross-app growth within Instagram.
• Establish connections between Instagram, Meta, and early-stage projects to achieve impactful results.
• Regularly engage with Instagram leadership to convey design principles and strategic choices.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Over 12 years of professional experience in designing and deploying consumer-facing design systems or products at a broad organizational level, managing end-to-end design in complex and ambiguous domains.
• Proven expertise in defining and steering design strategy across various product areas, with a measurable contribution to company-wide objectives.
• Strong background in interaction and visual design including typography, layouts, color theory, iconography, and UI design for mobile and desktop platforms, with a history of enhancing complex visual and motion workflows.
• Proficiency in prototyping intricate product concepts using diverse tools, incorporating AI-enhanced prototypes to support product strategies and executive decisions.
• Skilled in articulating design strategies and decisions to executives and cross-disciplinary teams to promote alignment within extensive organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience evolving and distributing design systems across various device types, ensuring widespread adoption among multiple product teams.
• Ability to identify emerging technologies and integrate them effectively into design methodologies within large teams or enterprises.
• Practiced in applying responsible and ethical AI methodologies, including risk management, bias reduction, and evaluation of quality and accuracy.
• Proven success in incorporating AI tools to streamline or reimagine workflows, resulting in tangible improvements in efficiency and quality.
• Hands-on experience in developing AI-driven product experiences, including prototyping with live AI models and refining model behavior through iterative feedback.
• Commitment to continuous AI skill enhancement, such as prompt engineering and agent orchestration, and keeping pace with new AI innovations.
• Track record of transforming design workflows via AI tools to achieve significant organizational improvements in efficiency and product quality.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a base salary ranging from $201,000 to $278,000 annually, along with bonuses, stock equity, and additional employee benefits. Compensation is determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits are provided as part of the overall package.
