Condé Nast is a global media powerhouse reaching over one billion consumers across 32 territories through various platforms including print, digital, video, and social media. Its portfolio encompasses some of the world’s most esteemed media properties such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, and Wired.

Vogue stands as a leading authority in fashion and culture. The role focuses on elevating Vogue's digital presence with an emphasis on tasteful, precise, and high-quality design.

Role Overview

As Product Design Lead, you will hold ownership of Vogue's visual digital experience ensuring every interaction and layout is purposeful and brand-appropriate. This senior individual contributor role requires autonomy, speed, and impactful contributions to enhance millions of readers' experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and uplift Vogue’s digital visual quality with sharp attention to typography, hierarchy, and composition.
  • Critically assess project briefs to align with wider user experience goals and identify opportunities that balance brand integrity with commercial outcomes.
  • Balance adherence to design systems with brand expression, pushing creative boundaries where needed.
  • Leverage user data and research—including your own usability testing—to deeply understand reader behaviors and needs, collaborating with research and analytics teams.
  • Work closely with engineering teams beyond simple handoffs to ensure the fidelity of design implementations.
  • Integrate AI tools into your design workflow for rapid idea generation and prototyping, actively shaping best practices.
  • Own the outcomes of your designs by tracking performance metrics and pursuing continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams including editorial, product, engineering, and commercial partners.
  • Champion design excellence and culture through mentorship and setting high standards within the design organization.

Candidate Profile

  • A passion for editorial design and storytelling, able to distinguish between merely functional and exceptional reading experiences.
  • An ability to navigate between system consistency and brand uniqueness in digital products.
  • A proactive mindset that challenges assumptions and refines briefs strategically before execution.
  • Technical proficiency in tools such as Figma, Cursor/Claude, GitHub, and familiarity with design tokens and front-end development concepts.
  • Experience adopting and adapting AI tools in design practices.
  • Outcome-focused with a strong orientation towards user satisfaction and engagement metrics.
  • Excellent communicator with openness to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • A self-motivated professional capable of independent progress without a fully outlined path.

Success Indicators

  • Significant enhancements to Vogue's digital UX within the first six months, backed by measurable improvements and stakeholder trust.
  • Clear vision and advocacy for the future digital experience of Vogue after the first year, with embedded new methodologies including AI-assisted design.

Desired Experience and Portfolio

  • Over 5 years in product or editorial design, preferably within digital publishing or media.
  • Demonstrable editorial and content-industry design work focusing on storytelling and content journeys.
  • Ability to convert inspirational concepts into actionable and user-friendly digital experiences that integrate editorial, service, and commerce.
  • Expertise in design systems, brand identity adaptation, and motion/interaction design for intuitive navigation and reading.
  • Proven collaboration with engineering to maintain design integrity through to production.
  • Evident visual design judgment, establishing clear hierarchy and brand-appropriate composition online.
  • A continual learner and experimenter with emerging tools including AI technologies.
