Its portfolio features some of the most esteemed media brands globally, such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour, GQ, The New Yorker, Condé Nast Traveler/Traveller, Allure, Architectural Digest, Bon Appétit, and Wired.

Position Overview

Based in New York, NY, the Executive Finance Director will hold a crucial leadership role within the Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This person will lead global Long-Range Planning (LRP) initiatives, decision-making support, and strategic projects. Reporting to the VP of Corporate FP&A, the role requires working closely with the CFO and senior U.S. executives, while maintaining alignment with the global finance function.

Operating in a complex, multi-brand, matrix organizational structure across multiple markets, this role bridges high-level strategy with precise financial execution. It demands a commercial mindset, analytical rigor, and strong communication skills to collaborate across teams and senior leaders effectively. The Executive Finance Director will translate corporate strategic goals into detailed five-year financial projections and spearhead important strategic programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the global five-year Long Range Planning process across all brands and geographical locations.
  • Convert qualitative strategies from brands and markets into quantitative, integrated financial forecasts including profit and loss and cash flow.
  • Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to stress-test business ideas.
  • Provide clear, data-driven recommendations as a trusted advisor to business leaders and finance teams.
  • Create compelling finance narratives for executive and board presentations.
  • Critically evaluate assumptions by commercial leaders to ensure strategic and financially sound plans.
  • Support Business Development by providing financial modeling and analysis for market entries/exits, new businesses, portfolio optimization, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Assist with company valuations and collaborate with related teams as needed.
  • Act as strategic finance lead and governance anchor for major transformation programs, aligning operational changes with measurable financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Transformation PMO to assess financial risks, ROI, and monitor budgets, ensuring projects achieve intended cost savings and value creation.
  • Guide the CFO with financial visibility to secure long-term profitability of transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with Business Development on high-impact growth projects, licensing, and partnerships by delivering robust financial strategies and risk assessments.
  • Ensure thorough evaluation of deal financials with controlling teams and track post-deal financial performance to provide leadership insights.

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in FP&A or strategic finance roles.
  • Background in media or related international industries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially in senior finance collaboration and business partnership.
  • Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and ability to deliver high-quality data outputs with minimal oversight.
  • Capacity to switch effortlessly between strategic thinking and detailed financial modeling.
  • Leadership through influence, driving priorities and supporting organizational success.
  • Proficient in building collaborative relationships across diverse cultures, functions, and hierarchies.
  • Experience managing change in fast-evolving industries and matrix organizations across time zones.
  • Effective under pressure, excellent prioritization, and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Self-starter, adaptable team player committed to broader team needs.
  • Advanced proficiency with G-suite; familiarity with Oracle EPM Advanced preferred.

Compensation

The base salary for this role is expected to range between 270000 and 290000 USD per year, with offers determined by various factors including skills, experience, and education.
