Role Overview

Worley Canada Construction is looking for an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage procurement activities such as bidding, evaluation, purchase order administration, and supplier coordination. The position plays an important role in helping projects secure materials on time and at the right cost.

Work Arrangement and Conditions

This role may be based at a project site or from a home office in Edmonton, Alberta. The work schedule follows shifts of 9 days on and 5 days off, with 10-hour workdays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine material requisitions submitted by the project team and turn them into procurement actions.
  • Draft and circulate RFQ and RFP packages aligned with project requirements.
  • Identify, source, and assess suppliers based on quality, pricing, and delivery capability.
  • Compare supplier options and recommend the best fit using detailed evaluation criteria.
  • Prepare accurate purchase orders and issue them promptly.
  • Follow up with suppliers to speed up material deliveries and keep orders moving.
  • Inform the project team about delays, timing risks, or schedule changes.
  • Keep purchase orders current so invoice processing can proceed without issues.
  • Complete purchase order closeout once contractual and procedural obligations have been met.
  • Coordinate closely with project management, construction, client representatives, quality control, project controls, accounts payable, and suppliers.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of procurement workflows and client-specific expectations.
  • Track deadlines carefully and raise scheduling concerns before they affect the project.
  • Prepare and share procurement reports with clients and internal stakeholders when required.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfort working under pressure in a demanding, fast-moving environment.

Preferred Background

  • Prior exposure to industrial construction projects.
  • Experience using Aveva ERM software.
  • Diploma, degree, or certification in supply chain management or a related discipline.
