Job description

About Airalo

Airalo is pioneering global travel connectivity as the first eSIM store, enabling travelers to access economical mobile data across more than 200 countries. Our rapidly expanding organization consists of over 400 team members spread across more than 60 nations. We pride ourselves on maintaining a culture built on trust, ownership, and workplace freedom without cumbersome bureaucracy, and we operate fully remotely.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Director to establish and lead our procurement function. This role involves designing and implementing procurement policies, standardizing purchase-to-pay processes aligned with a new ERP system, and optimizing spend management across key categories such as Networks, Sales & Marketing, and IT/Software. Reporting directly to the CFO, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with various departments to secure savings and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and deploy comprehensive procurement policies including delegation-of-authority frameworks, supplier onboarding, and tendering protocols.
  • Develop approval workflows that ensure robust control while facilitating business agility.
  • Lead category management strategies encompassing networks, marketing agencies, media, martech, IT/SaaS, and professional services.
  • Establish a consolidated spend repository and vendor taxonomy to track purchases, suppliers, and contract terms effectively; implement frameworks to uphold credit term schedules.
  • Manage and report a validated savings pipeline, ensuring segregation of duties, audit trails, and compliance with SOX-lite controls.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, conduct high-value negotiations based on total cost of ownership, and achieve defined savings targets while improving working capital.
  • Collaborate with Finance teams on zero-based budgeting and translate sourcing wins into budget savings.
  • Oversee master agreements, renewals scheduling, vendor performance reviews, and third-party risk assessments.
  • Integrate procurement within the ERP by managing the purchase order/requisition process, three-way match, and accrual accuracy.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or commercial/category management, ideally with experience establishing or scaling procurement functions in high-growth settings.
  • Expertise in indirect spend categories including marketing, IT/SaaS, and professional services, complemented by knowledge of network, telecom, or infrastructure-related expenditures.
  • Proven success conducting competitive tenders and managing intricate negotiations resulting in measurable cost savings.
  • Hands-on experience designing purchase order/requisition and purchase-to-pay processes within ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Strong familiarity with procurement policies, delegation frameworks, supplier risk management, and controls implementation.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across diverse business units without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fast-growing companies with established controls and audit-readiness.
  • Participation in ERP or purchase-to-pay system implementations.
  • Comfortable working within distributed, multi-currency, and multi-jurisdictional environments.

Additional Information

This role is remote and open to candidates residing in Spain, the United Kingdom, or the United Arab Emirates, each with local full-time contracts facilitated by employer of record partners. English proficiency is required for effective communication. Salary ranges vary by location and are transparently shared during recruitment conversations to ensure equitable compensation.
