Role summary

The Clorox Company is hiring an experienced Procurement Category Manager to lead sourcing for food ingredients and agricultural products within its Global Procurement organization. This position owns strategy for a raw material portfolio valued at $140M to $170M and supports multiple brands across business segments with sales above $3 billion.

In this position, you will act as the category expert for a global, cross-functional environment, helping strengthen supply continuity, improve value, support innovation, and advance sustainability. The role also covers market analysis, supplier partnership management, risk mitigation, commodity hedging, forecasting, and leadership of sourcing initiatives that support growth and resilience.

Key responsibilities

  • Shape and execute procurement strategies for food ingredients and agricultural raw materials, with focus on cost, supply resilience, innovation, and sustainability.
  • Convert broader business priorities into a clear and aligned category sourcing strategy.
  • Serve as the main subject matter expert for the category.
  • Work with senior internal leaders and external stakeholders to coordinate across organizations, maintain supplier relationships, resolve systemic supplier issues, assess supplier capabilities, and communicate risks.
  • Design, implement, and improve procurement tools and methods that create value for the business.
  • Identify and deliver projects that improve value across the spend portfolio.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and use supplier insights to better support business needs.
  • Spot continuous improvement opportunities such as design-to-value, cost modeling, and process mapping.
  • Track market trends, supplier competition, standards, and pricing/cost drivers to uncover improvement opportunities and guide business direction.
  • Act as the bridge between R&D and Procurement so business needs are reflected in category plans and executed effectively.
  • Help resolve procure-to-pay issues, including payment and invoice matters.

Experience and qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience sourcing direct materials in a global, matrixed environment, such as raw materials or packaging.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business, Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience preparing recommendations and updates for senior leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with sourcing and procurement methods, including RFPs, cost models, should-cost or clean-sheet analysis, negotiations, and contracts.
  • Working knowledge of commodity hedging, ideally in agricultural commodities.
  • Strong leadership ability, including driving results through teams in a fast-moving and demanding environment.
  • Ability to work assertively and diplomatically, stay self-directed, manage relationships up and down the organization, and hold people accountable.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to use procurement tools to deliver financial outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work through complex issues, synthesize information from multiple sources, and make recommendations using incomplete or ambiguous data.
  • Self-starter attitude with a drive for improvement, change, and continuous learning about markets and industry developments.
  • Strong collaboration skills and responsiveness in urgent situations.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences inside and outside the organization.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and driving accountability.
  • Ability to understand and negotiate supplier agreements.
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel, plus experience with MRP systems; SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
