About the Role
Join Synlait Milk Limited's manufacturing team in Dunsandel, Canterbury, where you'll operate and enhance the Spray Dryer 1 plant to transform milk and ingredients into high-quality nutritional products distributed globally. This critical role involves ensuring safe, efficient production by closely monitoring equipment performance, addressing operational issues, and upholding stringent safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and oversee critical spray drying and manufacturing equipment safely within set operational limits.
- Identify causes of process and equipment problems, troubleshoot, and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct thorough plant inspections, complete cleaning routines, and carry out operational checks regularly.
- Monitor production output to maintain consistent product quality and conformity with specifications.
- Ensure products meet quality standards and customer requirements on the first pass.
- Maintain precise documentation and comply with good manufacturing practices at all times.
- Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of high performance and teamwork.
- Adhere to Synlait’s Quality, Safety, and Operational Excellence principles.
Candidate Profile
This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy solving complex operational challenges and optimizing equipment efficiency. A background in operating spray dryers or experience within dairy, food, or similar manufacturing industries is highly valued.
- Experience operating spray dryers or manufacturing equipment in dairy, food, or related sectors.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a curiosity to understand equipment functions and processes.
- Practical and effective approach to troubleshooting and fault resolution.
- Dedication to safety, quality improvements, and continuous personal development.
- Capability to work well within a collaborative team environment.
- Trade certification or technical qualification preferred.
- Academic qualifications in science, engineering, computer science, or related fields advantageous.
- Experience with automated systems or working in sophisticated manufacturing settings.
