Job description

Job Overview

This part-time position involves teaching technology courses across South High and East High schools with a focus on engineering and technology subjects. The role is based in East Amherst, NY and requires valid New York State Certification in Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in various technology and engineering courses including Digital Electronics, Electronics and Robotics, Energy/Aerospace, and Introduction to Woodworking.
  • Willingness to teach a broad array of courses, potentially including Project Lead the Way programs.
  • Engage in activities to enhance and support the Engineering & Technology program.
  • Create a student-centered, adaptable classroom environment.
  • Collaborate as a team member with colleagues to share best practices, develop common assessments, and analyze student data.
  • Contribute to the school community by assuming roles such as advisor, chaperone, or club supervisor as needed.
  • Apply differentiated instructional strategies in lesson and unit planning.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must hold valid New York State Certification in Technology.
  • Experience or familiarity with the projected curriculum and teaching assignments.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
  • Thorough understanding of New York State Standards and Common Core Learning Standards.
  • Proven classroom management expertise.
  • Competency in integrating technology within classroom instruction.
  • Ability to modify curricula to accommodate special education students’ needs.
  • Reflective teaching practices aimed at continuous professional growth.

Additional Information

Applicants report to the Building Principal.
Salary ranges from $47,200 to $53,700 according to the WTA Contract.
