Overview

Join His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) at HMP Isle of Wight as an Operational Support Grade (OSG), playing a vital role in the smooth daily operations of a busy prison. This job combines both desk and physical activities such as security checks, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, monitoring phone calls, and overseeing CCTV footage. Driving is essential, so holding a valid UK driving licence is required.

Role Responsibilities

  • Supporting the efficient functioning of prison operations through varied duties.
  • Conducting security procedures like searches at the entrance gate.
  • Handling and supervising deliveries and visitors.
  • Monitoring communications such as phone calls and reviewing CCTV surveillance.
  • Driving duties including escorting vehicles within the prison grounds.
  • Performing physical tasks like lifting, carrying, and walking across the facility.
  • Working diverse shifts, including nights and weekends.

Requirements and Eligibility

  • No formal qualifications are necessary to apply.
  • Excellent communication skills and calmness in high-pressure situations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting salary of 29,432 per year.
