About the Role
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Wayland. This is an extraordinary job where you will be integral to the daily operations of a busy prison. You'll be part of a dedicated team contributing to security, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring communications and CCTV. The role is dynamic, blending desk-based tasks with physical activities like lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds.
Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day running of HMP Wayland.
- Perform security checks and searches at the prison gate.
- Manage incoming and outgoing deliveries.
- Supervise visitor interactions.
- Monitor phone calls and CCTV feeds.
- Undertake physical tasks including lifting and carrying.
- Escort vehicles within the prison premises.
- Work a variety of shifts, including weekends and nights.
Requirements
- No formal qualifications are required.
- Must possess strong communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure is essential.
- Demonstrate good judgment and common sense.
- Must be a strong team player.
- Consideration for transport options to meet fixed shift start and end times is the applicant's responsibility.
- A driving licence and personal transport are beneficial but not mandatory unless specified.
