Role overview
This position is for an Operational Support Grade at HMP Grendon and HMP Springhill. The role is hands-on and varied, helping ensure the prison runs safely and efficiently each day.
What you will do
You will support a wide range of operational tasks across the site, including gate security and searches, handling deliveries, supervising visitors, and keeping an eye on phone activity and CCTV. The job combines office-based duties with active physical work, such as lifting, carrying, and walking escorts to vehicles across the prison grounds.

Pay and benefits
The salary for this role is £29,432. Alongside base pay, you will also receive 25 days of annual leave on joining, rising to 30 days after 10 years of service, calculated pro rata. You will additionally get 9 days of bank, public and privilege holidays, access to a paid Level 2 apprenticeship in customer service, the Civil Service pension scheme, season ticket loans, retail discounts, an Employee Assistance Programme, and a Cycle to Work scheme.
