Role overview
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service is hiring prison officers for HMP Highpoint in Kirtling, England. This is a frontline role where you will help safeguard the public while supporting people in custody to make constructive changes in their lives.
The post offers a salary range of £35,746 to £40,003 and is suited to people who bring integrity, resilience, sound judgement and strong interpersonal ability. The work is varied, high-paced and different every day, with scope to build a long-term career and progress into specialist areas as experience grows.

There is no single background that defines a prison officer. People with experience in areas such as parenting, teaching, retail or the armed forces may already have developed the empathy, confidence and communication skills needed for the job. The key is the ability to form professional, constructive relationships with offenders, including those who may be at a very difficult point in their lives.
Because the environment depends on coordinated action, you must be committed to teamwork and understand that keeping the prison, prisoners and staff safe is a shared responsibility.
What the job involves
This position can involve multiple responsibilities within a single day. At different times you may need to act as a calm presence, offer guidance, or support learning and behaviour improvement. The role is hands-on and directly contributes to public protection and rehabilitation.
Working pattern
You will need to be available for varied shift patterns, including weekends.
