Job description
About the role
IAG is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect focused on integration and channel enablement. In this position, you will help design the architecture that connects technology across customer, partner, and internal touchpoints, supporting scalable and consistent digital experiences. The role sits at the meeting point of business strategy and technology change, with responsibility for guiding the future direction of integration, APIs, and channel platforms across retail, intermediated, and enterprise environments.
You will work with senior business and technology leaders to shape decisions that balance speed, adaptability, and enterprise-wide consistency. The role also has a strong focus on AI-enabled opportunities, architectural uplift, and partnership with executive-level stakeholders. This is a permanent full-time position based in multiple locations across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Responsibilities
- Set and champion the future-state architecture for integration and channel enablement across IAG’s technology ecosystem.
- Lead the roadmap for architecture delivery, ensuring connectivity remains scalable and aligned across internal and external systems.
- Develop and mature the organisation’s API strategy, including governance, lifecycle oversight, and API-first design practices.
- Promote seamless integration across customer, partner, broker, and internal channels.
- Spot opportunities to streamline, modernise, and improve integration and channel architecture.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, and delivery teams to translate strategy into execution.
- Guide enterprise-level decisions so integration investment supports a reusable and scalable connectivity layer.
Requirements
- Extensive background in enterprise architecture, with strong depth in integration architecture, API strategy, or channel platforms.
- Solid working knowledge of API platforms, middleware, event-driven design, and multi-channel ecosystems.
- Demonstrated ability to create architecture strategies and roadmaps and turn them into large-scale delivery outcomes.
- Experience defining API governance and strategy in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability across multiple portfolios and platforms.
- Comfort working in ambiguous situations with both strategic thinking and practical problem-solving.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience; Enterprise Architecture certification such as TOGAF is beneficial but not required.
Perks and benefits
- Boosted KiwiSaver with a 4.5% employer contribution, plus standard life insurance.
- 20 days of annual leave and 5 additional MyLeave days for personal priorities.
- Flexible working options, including work from home through myFlex.
- Up to 50% discount on personal insurance products, including home and motor cover.
- Annual $500 health and wellbeing allowance.
- 14 weeks of paid parental leave.
- Access to LinkedIn Learning, the IAG Academy, study support, and secondment opportunities.
- Employment-type eligibility criteria apply.
