Job description

Role overview

IAG is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect focused on integration and channel enablement to help design the architecture that links its technology landscape. In this senior position, you will shape how APIs, connectivity and channel platforms work together so customers, partners and internal teams can enjoy reliable and scalable digital experiences.

The role sits at the crossroads of business direction and technology change. You will own the architectural vision and roadmap for integration and channel enablement, ensuring that the organisation’s platforms can support growth, innovation and smooth experiences across retail, intermediary and enterprise environments. You will also help guide IAG’s broader ecosystem as AI-driven opportunities expand and as enterprise architecture maturity continues to develop.

This is a permanent full-time position based in multiple locations across Aotearoa New Zealand.

What you will do

  • Set the future-state architecture direction for integration and channel enablement across IAG’s ecosystems.
  • Maintain ownership of the architecture roadmap so connectivity remains coherent and scalable across internal and external platforms.
  • Develop and advance the enterprise API approach, covering governance, lifecycle oversight and API-first design principles.
  • Champion joined-up thinking across channels to support seamless integration for customer, partner and broker platforms.
  • Spot opportunities to streamline, modernise and improve integration and channel architecture.
  • Work closely with business leaders, solution architects and delivery teams to turn strategy into practical outcomes.
  • Influence enterprise-level decisions so integration investment creates a reusable and scalable connectivity layer.

What you will bring

  • Extensive enterprise architecture experience, with strong depth in integration architecture, API strategy or channel platforms.
  • Solid working knowledge of API platforms, middleware, event-driven design and multi-channel ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated success in creating architecture strategies and roadmaps and translating them into delivery at scale.
  • Experience defining API strategy and governance in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across several portfolios and ecosystems.
  • The ability to combine strategic thinking with practical problem-solving in uncertain or ambiguous settings.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent hands-on experience; Enterprise Architecture certification such as TOGAF is helpful but not required.

What is offered

  • Enhanced KiwiSaver contributions of 4.5% from the employer, plus life insurance as standard.
  • 20 days of annual leave and an additional 5 days of MyLeave for personal priorities.
  • Flexible working options, including working from home through the myFlex programme.
  • Discounts of up to 50% on personal insurance, including home and motor cover.
  • An annual $500 payment to support health and wellbeing.
  • 14 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning, the IAG Academy, study support and secondment opportunities.

This role may consider full-time, part-time and job-sharing arrangements.
