Role Overview
This full-time onsite position in Victoria, British Columbia supports the prepared foods area by handling dishwashing and keeping the kitchen clean, safe, and organized. The role is part of a customer-facing retail environment, so it also requires friendly service, teamwork, and consistent alignment with store procedures, food safety rules, and workplace standards.
Team members in this role are expected to support the company’s core values and initiatives, maintain a positive brand image through courteous interactions, and be ready to take on related duties as needed across similar team roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, rinse, and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and other small kitchen items.
- Keep kitchen floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelving clean and orderly.
- Help receive kitchen deliveries and support proper storage, organization, and rotation of products.
- Arrive on time, follow the required dress and grooming standards, and be ready for every scheduled shift and training session.
- Offer prompt and friendly customer support, respond to needs quickly, and answer phones or pages courteously.
- Support sales by following correct practices for preparing, storing, rotating, stocking, and presenting products.
- Follow established rules for weights and measures, sanitation, health, and safe work methods.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work and shopping area, including proper care of equipment.
- Complete opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks as assigned, and help ensure signs and pricing are accurate.
- Report safety concerns and rule violations immediately.
- Carry out other duties assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
Requirements
- No previous retail experience is needed.
- Ability to manage time well and stay organized.
- Strong interest in cleanliness and maintaining a tidy work environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with team members, customers, and vendors.
- Capacity to follow instructions, procedures, and workplace standards consistently.
- Commitment to customer service expectations in every interaction.
- Strong work ethic and comfort working in a busy, fast-moving environment.
- Interest in natural foods and alignment with the company mission.
- Ability to meet quality standards and comply with operational goals.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work may involve standing or walking for 6 to 8 hours in an 8-hour shift.
- Job tasks may include single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to approved cleaning chemicals is expected.
- Work may take place in freezing, refrigerated, and warm temperature zones.
- Must be able to work in wet and dry conditions.
- Flexible availability is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
- May need to use ladders.
Additional Information
The wage range for this role is $18.50 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
