About the Role

The Last Layer is hiring a curious, driven, and well-organized PR + Influencer Intern to support its team. This internship can be arranged for academic credit and/or paid compensation, based on the student’s school requirements and prior experience. The intern will collaborate with Account Managers and other team members on client work across parenting, wellness, lifestyle, and consumer brands.

The position is intended to offer practical exposure to agency work while helping build core capabilities in public relations, media strategy, influencer engagement, content creation, and integrated communications. The ideal candidate is proactive, eager to learn, comfortable working with others, and genuinely interested in storytelling, media, social content, and creator culture.

Responsibilities

  • Track media coverage and keep records of earned placements across client accounts.
  • Research industry movements, competitor activity, media opportunities, cultural conversations, and emerging trends.
  • Help with media audits and summarize findings for internal use.
  • Maintain and refresh media lists and editorial calendars.
  • Support the preparation of media pitches, briefing documents, and press materials with guidance from the team.
  • Assist in identifying story angles and supporting campaign development research.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and creative ideation for client campaigns.
  • Research and identify influencers aligned with client goals.
  • Track campaign deliverables and influencer activity.
  • Help keep campaigns organized and support related administrative tasks.
  • Research social trends, creator content, and emerging conversations on digital platforms.
  • Collect references and examples of social content, creator campaigns, and cultural moments.
  • Support the creation of client reports and presentation materials.
  • Join internal brainstorms and team meetings.
  • Assist with organizational and administrative work related to account management.
  • Share ideas and observations during team discussions.
  • Assist with event and activation planning when needed.
  • Help coordinate logistics, product shipments, and campaign execution.
  • Look for opportunities to learn from colleagues across PR, influencer, and strategy functions.
  • Contribute to internal resources and knowledge-sharing efforts.

Requirements

  • Must be a current college student or a recent graduate studying Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a similar discipline.
  • Strong command of written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle several tasks and competing priorities.
  • Strong research ability and interest in media, influencers, social platforms, and consumer trends.
  • Positive, adaptable attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Genuine interest in social media, content trends, and creator culture.
  • Experience making content for platforms such as TikTok or Instagram Reels is beneficial, including personal projects, schoolwork, clubs, or campus groups; formal work experience is not required.
  • Comfort working independently and staying organized in a remote environment.
