Job Overview
Join Royal Mail in Glasgow as a Postal Delivery Driver responsible for sorting and delivering letters and parcels within your local community. This permanent full-time position involves working approximately 30 hours per week on a rotating shift schedule that covers five days out of seven between Monday and Sunday, typically from 08:45 to 14:45. The role requires working both on foot and by van, facing all weather conditions while representing Royal Mail as the trusted delivery face.
Key Responsibilities
- Sorting letters and parcels at the delivery center.
- Delivering mail and parcels by van and on foot within designated routes.
- Building positive relationships with customers through consistent service.
- Working outdoors throughout varying weather conditions.
Work Environment and Expectations
- Walking extensive distances daily, up to approximately 12 miles or 20,000+ steps.
- Driving a Royal Mail van as part of daily duties.
- Managing heavy workloads and tight deadlines, especially during busy periods.
- Engaging in physically demanding tasks like climbing stairs/hills and lifting mail bags over 10kg.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a full manual UK driving license with a maximum of six penalty points and registration matching current personal details.
- Readiness to operate a Royal Mail van and complete a driving assessment successfully.
- Physically capable of extensive walking and carrying heavy loads.
- Self-reliant, organized, and resilient under pressure.
- Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Comfortable working independently and outdoors regularly.
