Job description

Position Overview

This role entails the independent design, execution, and analysis of laboratory research focused on cancer metabolism and molecular mechanisms that drive tumor progression. The postdoctoral associate will integrate functional genomics, metabolic profiling, and experimental biology techniques to advance knowledge in this field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently design and perform laboratory studies exploring cancer metabolism and disease progression.
  • Collaborate with lead investigators and multidisciplinary teams to develop study plans and experimental protocols aligned with research goals.
  • Apply and improve molecular and cellular methods such as CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and various cell-based assays.
  • Conduct biochemical and functional tests, including measuring enzyme activities and analyzing metabolic pathways.
  • Carry out and assist with in vivo research using mouse models under approved ethical and regulatory guidelines.
  • Analyze experimental data, contribute to interpretation and overall study conclusions.
  • Prepare detailed reports, figures, and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present scientific findings at internal seminars and external conferences.
  • Mentor and provide support to team members and students as needed.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Continuously review relevant literature to enhance experimental design and methodology.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet research objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related biomedical science.
  • Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in relevant fields.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong expertise in cancer biology, especially metabolism or biochemical pathways related to tumor biology.
  • Proficient in molecular and cellular laboratory techniques, including CRISPR-Cas9 editing, cell culture, biochemical assays, enzyme activity measurements, and ex vivo mouse model experiments.
  • Familiarity with metabolomics or multi-omics analyses, with advantageous knowledge in mitochondrial metabolism or redox biology.
  • Ability to link experimental findings to biological mechanisms effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills enabling multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with R or similar analytical software is a plus.
