Post-Doctoral Associate in Social Science Division

Position Overview

New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate to join its Division of Social Science starting September 1, 2026, pending budget approval. This opportunity spans up to three years and is aimed at scholars who have recently completed or will soon complete a PhD in sociology, social psychology, computational social science, computer science, information science, data science, or a closely related area, provided they have no more than five years post-PhD experience.

Research Focus and Expectations

The associate will dedicate half their effort to independent research and half to collaboration with esteemed faculty members Professors Mario D. Molina, Minsu Park, and Blaine Robbins. The ideal candidates should specialize in areas such as social networks, group or organizational dynamics, and employ computational or quantitative methodologies. Methodologies of interest include but are not limited to digital trace data analysis, natural language processing, machine learning, experimental design, causal inference, and computational or network modeling. Applicants with a passion for addressing theory-driven questions pertaining to group formation and intergroup relations are especially welcome, though there is openness to diverse research agendas.

Teaching Opportunities

This role does not entail teaching responsibilities by default; however, candidates interested in gaining teaching experience may pursue such opportunities with additional remuneration.
