Job description
About the employer
The client is a Qatar-based investment organisation with a diversified mandate spanning public and private markets worldwide. It is expanding its private markets platform as part of a longer-term plan to adopt a more institutional, manager-led approach to investing.
Role overview
This position is for a Portfolio Manager focused on private credit. The role sits within a growing private markets capability and will support the development and execution of the firm’s global private markets strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Support the design and rollout of the organisation’s private markets strategy, with emphasis on private credit.
- Drive manager screening, selection and due diligence across private credit funds, co-investments and secondaries.
- Assess and structure co-investment opportunities in partnership with external investment managers.
- Contribute to portfolio design, asset allocation decisions and periodic rebalancing across private markets.
- Track portfolio outcomes, exposures and risk metrics, and prepare reporting for governance forums and investment committees.
- Build and present investment cases and recommendations to senior stakeholders through a formal investment committee process.
- Help strengthen the platform’s investment processes, operating framework and governance as the team expands.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an institutional investment environment such as a sovereign wealth fund, pension fund, asset manager, or investment/family office. Strong exposure to private credit and familiarity with the global manager landscape are important. The role also calls for someone who is commercially minded, highly analytical, and comfortable working across both fund investments and co-investments. A proactive, hands-on mindset is essential, along with the ability to help create processes and frameworks in a developing platform. International awareness, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural setting are also key.
