Role Summary
The Podcast Editor & Social Media Designer will transform raw audio and video recordings into engaging content for diverse audiences. This multifaceted position requires technical expertise and creative input to define the audio and visual identity of our podcasts and social media presence. The ideal candidate is passionate about pristine audio, understands viral social media trends—especially for TikTok—and possesses strong graphic design skills.
Work Schedule
- Attend four weekly recordings on Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday afternoon, plus a varying fourth session confirmed in advance.
- Manage post-production immediately following recordings.
- Be flexible during election periods when recordings may increase to daily.
Responsibilities
- Manage guest technical experience end-to-end, from initial contact to recording.
- Conduct pre-show technical checks covering audio levels, video framing, internet connectivity, and platform access.
- Guide guests in mic setup, camera angles, lighting, and backgrounds tactfully.
- Quickly troubleshoot technical problems like headphone issues, echo, dropouts, and Bluetooth conflicts during sessions.
- Provide a calm and reassuring technical presence for both guests and hosts.
- Monitor audio and video levels during all recordings remotely.
- Ensure comprehensive and clean captures of every session.
- Edit audio to remove noise, balance EQ, compress, and normalize loudness.
- Produce polished video edits optimized for YouTube, including branded elements such as openings, closings, title cards, logos, theme music, and sponsor messages.
- Export final audio and video files in MP3 and MP4 formats.
- Extract impactful clips from episodes to create engaging social media content for platforms including Twitter (X), Instagram, and TikTok.
- Design platform-specific graphics, captions, subtitles, and text overlays to enhance viewers' experience.
- Conduct thorough quality control on each episode before release.
- Maintain organization, adhere to deadlines, and communicate proactively with the team.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrable experience in podcast, broadcast, or video production environments.
- Proficiency with remote recording tools such as Riverside, Descript, Squadcast, or equivalents.
- Advanced skills in video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
- Exceptional auditory perception to identify subtle audio imperfections.
- Keen awareness of social media trends and best practices specific to TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter (X).
- Strong design sensibility for crafting visual content and graphics suited to multiple platforms.
- Dependable, deadline-oriented, and excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to patiently manage technical setups for non-expert guests, many of whom hold senior positions, ensuring high-quality audio and video without discomfort.
