Overview

Daniels Health Canada is committed to revolutionizing medical waste management with innovative, safe solutions. Since 1986, our efforts have drastically reduced healthcare industry hazards, including a nationwide decline in disposal-related needlestick injuries. We're hiring a Plant Operator for our medical waste treatment facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Role Responsibilities

  • Unload trailers each morning with a teammate and weigh medical waste accurately.
  • Sort waste as necessary and weigh incoming trucks plus any leftover waste from previous days.
  • Operate and maintain boilers and autoclaves efficiently for optimal plant performance.
  • Ensure all waste processing and storage comply with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of clean reusable bins and totes for logistics support.
  • Address housekeeping duties promptly, including cleaning spills, keeping floors dry, and removing debris.
  • Assist in other operational areas as directed by the Operations Supervisor.

Candidate Requirements

  • Valid Forklift Certification is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in physically demanding roles with a dependable and can-do attitude.
  • Demonstrated reliability, organization, physical fitness, independence, teamwork, safety awareness, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and pursue career advancement opportunities.

Working Conditions and Benefits

  • This role demands physical stamina due to extensive walking but minimal heavy lifting.
  • Work schedule is Monday to Friday with early starts at 5am or 6am as required.
  • Full-time permanent position with 40 working hours weekly.
  • Competitive compensation ranging between $20 and $21 per hour.
