Role Overview

The Planner serves as a Transport Dispatcher tasked with coordinating and optimizing freight movement. This position demands efficient route planning and direct engagement with drivers to guarantee timely delivery, cost efficiency, and seamless operations flow.

Key Responsibilities

• Devise transportation routes that maximize delivery efficiency by accounting for factors like distance, traffic, and timing limitations.
• Optimize routing to lower fuel consumption, cut transit durations, and improve cost-effectiveness.
• Communicate clear, detailed route instructions and special delivery considerations to drivers.
• Track driver progress and promptly resolve any unexpected issues or deviations from plans.
• Use Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and tracking technology to monitor shipment and vehicle status in real time.
• Respond efficiently to disruptions such as traffic incidents that affect schedules.
• Serve as the primary liaison between drivers, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
• Engage actively in organizational change initiatives and support implementation.
• Allocate internal resources effectively for optimal productivity.
• Facilitate timely communication with the team concerning changes, delays, or other critical updates.
• Prepare periodic reports on transportation efficiency KPIs.
• Maintain precise records of transport activities, including delivery times, delays, and incidents.
• Identify and manage transportation issues, including delays and vehicle malfunctions, collaborating with team members to apply solutions.
• Operate within designated areas as determined by management and business needs.
• Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure timely deliveries.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a relevant University degree or Diploma in Logistics.
• Have at least three years experience in transport dispatch, preferably within the logistics industry.
• Be proficient with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
• Exhibit strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrate sound business and commercial insight.
• Experience in warehousing, logistics, or the FMCG sector is advantageous.
• Be well-organized and focused on results.

Language Requirements

Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
