Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for Pidgin English Over-the-Phone Interpreters to support USCIS operations. Pidgin English, spoken in countries such as Nigeria, Cameroon, and Ghana, is pivotal for asylum, refugee, and immigration proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate and professional telephonic interpretation between Pidgin English and Standard English during USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum processes.
• Maintain impartiality, precision, and confidentiality according to USCIS and DHS interpreter ethical standards.
• Manage both pre-scheduled and on-demand interpretation requests.
• Engage in ongoing training, compliance updates, and quality assurance evaluations.

Required Qualifications

• Native or near-native proficiency in West African Pidgin English and Standard English.
• Minimum two years of professional interpreting experience, preferably within immigration, legal, community, NGO, or government sectors.
• Well-versed in interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality.
• Intimate understanding of cultural nuances and regional variations within Pidgin English.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3 or Tier 5 security clearance.
