Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Dispensary Assistant. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the safe, efficient, and effective operation of our dispensary, ensuring outstanding care for our patients. The ideal candidate will be well-organised, dependable, and capable of performing under pressure.
You will serve as a positive role model by supporting and supervising other dispensary assistants, contributing to the smooth functioning of the service, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
Main Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Lead Pharmacy Technician to supervise, support, and train dispensary assistants across all aspects of the dispensary service.
- Participate in reviewing and updating procedures to improve service quality.
- Assist in managing staff absences and performance-related matters within the team.
- Ensure the precise receipt, storage, labelling, and dispensing of medications.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to maintain safe and efficient daily operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- GCSE or equivalent qualification including English and Mathematics.
- NVQ Level 2 qualification.
- Previous experience working in a reception area within a busy environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and skills in accurate data entry.
- Familiarity with ordering, receiving, and storing goods.
- Willingness to undertake Medicines Optimisation training (POD Assessment and Transcribing modules) if not already accredited.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Basic pharmaceutical knowledge.
- Experience with over-the-counter sales.
- Prior dispensing experience.
- Customer care understanding and experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Teamwork-oriented approach.
- Experience using Hyperspace and Willow pharmacy computer systems.
