Job description

Role overview

Warwickshire County Council is recruiting for four Personal Advisor posts within its Separated Children and Leaving Care Team. Two posts are 12-month maternity cover positions and two are 12-month fixed-term contracts. One vacancy starts on 30 July 2026 and another on 30 September 2026; the fixed-term roles begin as soon as possible. Working hours are either 37 per week or 18.5 per week, depending on the post. Please clearly state in your supporting statement which specific role you are applying for.

The team supports care-experienced young people aged 16 to 25, as well as separated children in care and young people with care experience. Although the service operates as one team, work is divided between separated young people seeking support and young people leaving care. A duty rota covers both areas. The service is county-wide, with offices in both the north and south of Warwickshire to make access easier for young people.

What the role involves

This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who is committed to helping young people leaving care move into adulthood with the strongest possible support. The role suits someone who can adapt their approach to each young person’s individual needs.

  • Support young people aged 16 to 25.
  • Take responsibility for a caseload and handle day-to-day support needs.
  • Participate in the team’s duty arrangements and assist young people who are not directly allocated to you.
  • Work alongside young people to build confidence, independence, and readiness for adult life.

The team

You will join an experienced and collaborative management team that values innovation, teamwork, and a young person-centred approach. The team is focused on improving outcomes for care leavers and helping them access the support and tools they need to succeed.

What Warwickshire County Council offers

The council provides a supportive working environment with managers who recognise good work and supervise with wellbeing and workload in mind. Benefits include a Volunteering & Wellbeing Day, generous annual leave, an extra day at Christmas, and in some roles a Refer a Friend scheme subject to terms and conditions.

Employees also benefit from agile working, access to Vivup discounts and benefits, and a strong pension arrangement with an employer contribution typically around 19% per month, alongside benefits for members and dependants.

Additional information

Warwickshire County Council is committed to safeguarding children, young people, and adults. Successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks, including a relevant DBS check. Any declared criminal offence will be assessed in line with DBS guidance and the council’s policy, and the council follows the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

For this post, the Fluency Duty applies. You must be able to speak and give advice to the public in accurate spoken English.

If you are applying on a secondment basis, you must have permission from your line manager.
