Job description
About the Role
Sweat Pants Agency is a performance marketing agency that supports several rapidly growing brands ranked No. 1 in Inc. growth lists. The team produces, tests, and scales advertising across Meta, TikTok, Instagram, and other paid social channels.
The company is hiring a Performance Creative Video Editor for paid social who can transform raw UGC, talking-head footage, product clips, client-provided assets, AI-generated background footage, and social references into ads that feel native to the platform.
This position is especially suited to someone who understands direct-response creative, short-form hooks, UGC-style editing, and the fast pace of creative testing. The work is not about polishing visuals alone; it is about building ads that persuade and hold attention.
What the Work Involves
- Edit performance-focused video ads for Meta, Instagram, TikTok, Reels, and similar short-form placements.
- Convert raw creator footage, testimonials, founder clips, product demos, and talking-head content into final ad-ready assets.
- Produce several hooks, angles, and variations so campaigns can be tested effectively.
- Build strong opening moments that grab attention within the first few seconds.
- Reuse existing footage to create fresh concepts and alternate versions.
- Ensure the final cut feels platform-native rather than like a traditional polished commercial.
Creative and Performance Approach
- Shape edits around direct-response frameworks such as problem, agitation, solution, proof, and call to action.
- Adjust the editing style to suit the footage, offer, brand positioning, and creative angle.
- Know when the ad should feel raw and organic versus premium and more brand-led.
- Use pacing, captions, pattern interrupts, proof points, b-roll, and sound to improve watch time.
- Keep the edit coherent and intentional instead of feeling like disconnected filler.
- Think from the viewer's perspective and optimize for persuasion, not just aesthetics.
Hook, Retention, and Flow Optimization
- Strengthen opening visuals and early scene structure.
- Improve pacing, ordering of shots, and overall visual flow.
- Add text overlays, captions, callouts, screenshots, sound cues, and pattern interrupts where useful.
- Spot likely drop-off points and refine the edit to keep viewers engaged.
- Create clear, engaging, and easy-to-follow ads that support the message.
- Use audio pacing and sound design to increase attention and retention.
AI Tools and Workflow
- Use AI tools to create realistic filler footage or extra product b-roll when source material is limited.
- Match AI-generated content with the original footage in lighting, realism, and environment.
- Use AI voiceover tools where needed.
- Apply AI for transcription, scene breakdowns, competitor ad analysis, and creative research.
- Understand when AI improves the final result and when it makes the edit feel unnatural.
- Stay open to new tools and evolving creative workflows.
Team Collaboration
- Review creative briefs carefully and ask questions when details are unclear.
- Share realistic completion timelines before starting work.
- Provide an early draft for review when a brief involves a new format or multiple versions.
- Incorporate feedback from strategists, media buyers, and creative directors.
- Revise efficiently and communicate clearly about blockers, priorities, and deadlines.
- Study winning ads, organic content, competitor references, and standout creators for inspiration.
- Suggest new hooks, concepts, structures, and references when they can improve the work.
Experience and Fit
The ideal candidate has 2 to 5+ years of editing experience and has worked on paid social ads, UGC-style content, short-form videos, or DTC ecommerce creative. A strong understanding of what makes content feel native to Meta, Instagram, TikTok, and Reels is important.
You should be confident with captions, typography, pacing, sound design, overlays, and voiceover timing. You should also be able to produce multiple ad variations quickly without letting quality slip, and you should communicate well when briefs need clarification.
Tools and Platforms
You do not need to know every tool listed, but you should be able to learn new creative software quickly. The role may involve Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, TikTok and Instagram native editors, Meta ad references, competitor research, ElevenLabs or similar voiceover tools, Higgsfield or similar AI tools, Gemini or ChatGPT for transcription and research, and collaboration tools such as Google Drive, Slack, Notion, and Frame.io.
Preferred Background
- Experience with direct-response DTC ads.
- Background in paid social creative teams.
- Prior editing work for Meta ads.
- Experience using Meta Ad Library, TikTok Creative Center, or competitor research tools.
- Experience making viral organic short-form content.
- Ability to create platform-native edits for TikTok, Instagram, or Reels.
- Experience in a marketing agency environment.
- Motion graphics or typography skills.
- Understanding of Meta and TikTok performance metrics.
- A strong portfolio of UGC, paid social, or organic short-form edits.
- Experience with AI-generated b-roll, AI voiceovers, or AI-assisted workflows.
Benefits
- Opportunity to work with fast-growing DTC brands.
- Exposure to a team supporting multiple Inc. No. 1 fastest-growing companies.
- Collaboration with experienced creative strategists, media buyers, and creative directors.
- Involvement in ads that are actively tested, measured, and scaled.
- Remote work with a global team.
- Room to experiment with modern creative workflows and AI tools.
- Chance to build a portfolio of high-performing paid social creative.
- Join a collaborative agency that values both creative quality and performance.
