Job description

About the Company

Nabis is a licensed cannabis wholesale platform operating at scale, moving more than $1B in cannabis products each year from a large network of brands to retailers in California, New York, and Nevada. The company’s mission is to expand access to cannabis through choice, innovation, and modern infrastructure. Built as a technology-first business and supported by prominent investors, Nabis is growing quickly across the United States with the long-term goal of becoming a major global cannabis distribution network.

Role Overview

The People Operations role is a hands-on position focused on outcomes across recruiting, training and engagement, and broader people initiatives. You will work closely with leaders across departments, design and maintain learning programs, and take ownership of people-related projects from planning through delivery.

This position is best suited to someone who is highly organized, communicates clearly, and genuinely enjoys improving systems, supporting employee growth, and using data to guide decisions. The role calls for someone who acts quickly when a process breaks, brings in the right stakeholders, and builds a better system instead of simply documenting the problem.

Location Eligibility

This opportunity is open only to candidates located in CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, NJ, NV, NY, TN, TX, UT, VA, or WA. Applications from outside these states will not be considered.

What You Will Own

You will oversee training and employee development, employee engagement and culture efforts, cross-functional people projects, onboarding infrastructure, and offboarding processes.

Training and Employee Development

You will track required training completion in the LMS, create new learning content as business needs change, and keep the new-hire orientation experience improving for both in-person and remote employees. You will also work with Operations on role-specific learning, support training for interviews and managers, and align development programs with performance reviews and succession planning.

Employee Engagement and Culture

You will help strengthen employee engagement by managing current programs and creating new gamified initiatives aimed at improving the company’s bi-annual engagement scores. You will also find ways to keep a distributed, multi-location workforce connected, motivated, and included.

Cross-Functional People Projects

You will lead project planning, assign work in Asana, and drive execution on initiatives across the People team. These may include updates to the employee referral program, DEI efforts, onboarding materials, and manager interview training. You will also share progress and new initiatives across the company through Slack and email.

Onboarding Infrastructure

You will standardize onboarding across the business so that every new hire, whether hourly or salaried, onsite or remote, receives a consistent and high-quality start.

Offboarding

You will coordinate respectful and consistent exit experiences for departing employees, including removing system access, collecting company property, and conducting exit interviews to identify trends that can improve retention and engagement.

First 90 Days

  • During the first month, you will learn the team’s environment, become familiar with the LMS, ATS, and internal tools, and identify key gaps and priorities.
  • By the second month, you will have reviewed onboarding boards, gained a clear view of training gaps, and started addressing the most urgent issues.
  • By the third month, you will be independently driving scoped People projects in Asana, keeping timelines on track, launching engagement initiatives, and becoming a trusted partner to department leaders.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has strong experience in people operations, HR, or recruiting within a fast-paced environment that supports both hourly and salaried teams. You should be comfortable working with HR systems, building workflows, reading reports, and spotting data issues. The role also calls for strong project management, direct communication, dependable follow-through, and a genuine interest in employee experience, development, and operational excellence. A data-driven mindset is important, along with the ability to track key metrics and use them to inform decisions and resource requests.

What This Role Is Not

This is not a task-only coordinator position, and it is not a purely reactive HR support role. The role requires real ownership of recruiting outcomes, training programs, and broader People projects.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Unlimited paid time off and paid holidays
  • Opportunity to join one of the fastest-growing cannabis startups in the United States
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for all full-time employees
  • Base salary in the range of $85,000 to $90,000, depending on experience
  • 401(k) plan with employer match

Equal Opportunity Statement

Nabis is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workplace. The company encourages applications from women, people of color, LGBTQIA individuals, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, older adults, and other underrepresented groups. Employment decisions are made without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability. All employees and contractors are expected to help maintain a respectful workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
