Role Summary

The People Operations Executive will support cinema locations across Nigeria with day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, payroll coordination, recruitment support, compliance, and reporting. This position serves as a key link between cinema teams, site leadership, and the central HR function.

Cinema People Operations

  • Serve as the initial HR contact for managers and employees across cinema sites.
  • Carry out regular location visits, gather organised staff feedback, and surface concerns early.
  • Assist cinema leadership with routine people-management decisions and related documentation.
  • Keep headcount and employee records accurate for each cinema location.
  • Monitor attendance, leave, and workforce information for the weekly HR summary.

Payroll & Compensation Administration

  • Gather, check, and submit payroll data for cinema staff on a monthly basis.
  • Work with the Finance team to support prompt and correct salary payments.
  • Monitor shift allowances, incentive pay, and other variable compensation elements.
  • Address payroll-related questions from staff in a timely and accurate manner.

Employee Relations & Welfare

  • Manage initial disciplinary, grievance, and welfare issues in accordance with company policy and Nigerian labour law.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the Head of HR with complete context and supporting records.
  • Support probation reviews, contract renewals, and employee exit procedures for cinema staff.
  • Develop strong working relationships with cinema teams so employees feel supported and heard.

Talent Acquisition & Pipeline

  • Assist with hiring for cinema-based positions in coordination with the support office HR team.
  • Continuously identify potential candidates and add strong profiles to the talent pool, even when no role is currently open.
  • Coordinate onboarding for new cinema employees, including induction, paperwork, and system setup.
  • Ensure new joiners are properly integrated and supported during their first 90 days.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Submit reliable field information for the weekly HR snapshot and monthly reports.
  • Make sure all cinema HR records are complete, properly filed, and ready for audit review.
  • Spot and report compliance concerns and people-related risks before they escalate.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years of HR experience, especially in field-based or operational HR roles.
  • Practical experience in payroll administration.
  • Strong capability in employee relations.
  • Warm personality and excellent interpersonal communication.
  • Positive, energetic presence that improves team morale.
  • Ability to identify promising talent.
  • Comfort working across multiple sites and travelling regularly to cinema locations throughout Nigeria.
  • Highly organised, careful with details, and dependable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Additional Information

  • CIPM certification or an equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
  • Experience in hospitality, cinema, retail, or another customer-facing multi-site environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian labour law, especially in relation to shift workers and casual staff, is useful.
  • Experience supporting disciplinary and misconduct procedures is beneficial.
