About the Role
SpaceX exists to build the technologies that can help humanity extend life beyond Earth, with a long-term vision of enabling people to live on Mars. The organization is looking for a Human Resources Coordinator focused on employee relations to support a varied workforce across the full employee journey.
This role is centered on employee onboarding, HRIS administration, and close partnership with the HR team to roll out local and company-wide initiatives. Strong service mindset, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to perform well in a fast-moving, evolving environment are essential.
What You Will Do
- Assist the HR team with employee relations matters, including investigations and conflict resolution.
- Keep the HRIS accurate and up to date across employee lifecycle events.
- Handle employee questions, concerns, and routine HR requests.
- Share guidance on HR policies, programs, and procedures with employees and managers.
- Act as the main contact for new hire onboarding and help employees settle into the company.
- Maintain precise electronic personnel records and support reporting and audit-related requests.
- Help develop, document, and roll out HR policies, programs, and processes.
- Process initial unemployment claims and employment verification requests.
- Support day-to-day HR service delivery across the workforce.
- Help identify team needs, suggest improvements, and support implementation efforts.
- Coordinate site events such as benefits fairs, volunteer activities, and team celebrations.
- Back up the recruiting team with staffing-related coordination tasks.
- Protect sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 6 months of administrative experience; internship experience can be counted toward this requirement.
Preferred Experience
- GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- At least 1 year of internship or professional experience in human resources.
- Working knowledge of labor laws and an interest in tracking HR trends and updates.
- Ability to succeed in a high-pace setting and adapt comfortably to change.
- Experience with Workday, Greenhouse, and UltiPro is a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Background in HR operations is preferred.
- Comfort working collaboratively and stepping in wherever needed.
- Ability to partner effectively with employees and managers across all levels.
- Customer-focused approach with an emphasis on accuracy and responsiveness.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Additional Requirements
- This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work and requires relocation if the candidate is not already based in the Palo Alto, CA area.
- Willingness to work overtime and/or weekends when necessary.
- Ability and willingness to travel to other SpaceX locations up to 25% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits
The listed pay rate for Level 1 is $27.00 per hour. Actual level and base pay are determined individually based on role-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
In addition to base pay, the role may qualify for long-term incentives such as company stock or long-term cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and the option to buy extra stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage; a 401(k) retirement plan; short- and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; paid parental leave; and additional discounts and perks. Employees may accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and are eligible for 10 or more paid holidays each year. Paid sick leave is provided in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
